About Iris F Salmins

Iris F Salmins Iris Salmins was born in Atlanta, Georgia. In 1996 while living in Riga, Latvia, her future husband became her translator. She discovered that if she wanted to be with him on his “off-time,” she would need to hang out with him as he painted. So, what was a girl to do? She went out and bought canvases, paints, brushes, and an easel. Her gift of painting abstracts surfaced and she began her art adventure. In Riga, Latvia her paintings were exhibited in curated exhibits at the Holocaust Museum and the City Hotel Teater. After coming back to the States, she won first place in a juried exhibition which was judged by the director of the Glassell School, which is part of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. As a member of Artists Alive and Well, her paintings were exhibited in various group exhibitions. In 2023, Iris won best of show at the Abstract Biennial juried exhibition at the Art Center of Corpus Christi. Also in 2023, Iris's art was accepted in the juried exhibitions "Texas Heat", Women's Caucus for Art, "Abstract Biennial", Art Center of Corpus Christi, and "Sense" Art House, New York City. Iris had a solo exhibition and participated in a curated exhibition at Sean Anthony's. Her abstracts have been said to be "a fabulous collection of eclectic paintings and drawings." Iris's passion is simple; to bring positive life eye candy to her collectors' walls! Original paintings, custom paintings, and digital prints are available.
